The Dark Sire (TDS) is a quarterly online and paperback magazine that prints short fiction, poetry, and art in the subgenres of gothic, horror, fantasy, and psychological realism. New issues are released on the last day of the full seasonal month (Oct 31, Jan 31, April 30, July 31).

Founded in 2019 by Bre Stephens, TDS is a platform for old-school genre and literary fiction. Its "founding fathers" were all greats of their genres in their day: Edgar Allan Poe (Gothic), Mary Shelley (Horror), J. R. R. Tolkien (Fantasy), and Fyordor Dostoevsky (Psychological Realism). Continuing in their foosteps, TDS endeavors to publish works that mirror and reflect the darker toned and themed subject matter of the past.

All works printed in TDS adhere to the prescription of serving readers with creepy, eerie, twisted content that harkens back to an older tradition of storytelling, subject matter, and potraiture.

The Dark Sire is available in digital and paperback formats, which includes individual issues and yearly subscriptions. Also available are subscription boxes, inspired by each issue and season.

*TDS does not print science fiction, weird/cosmic fiction, or apocalyptic fiction.
