TDS steps into film with A Metamorphosis"The Dark Sire has always been a vehicle that uplifts creatives, and now it pushes forward on the one initiative that it has stood by from the very beginning: To go beyond the printed page (Beyond the Page). We are proud to announce that Amanda Crum's "A Metamorphosis" (TDS Issue 2, Winter, 2019) was selected to be the first TDS short film. "A Metamorphosis" is the story of young man who finds himself at the mercy of a witch who is determined to change him. Pre-production is already underway, with shooting slated for the beginning of September. When the film is finished, it will be used for promotion of Amanda and her short story. In addition, it will be submitted to film festivals in an attempt to gain the attention of a production company. The goal is for TDS to become a bridge for its creatives so that their work can be made into professional feature length movies and TV series. |
CASTING CALL
Following is the information for the two lead characters. Non-speaking roles are available.
Some scenes take place in a lake with minimal nudity.

Female Lead – any ethnicity – 20s-30s
A well-kept female who is mentally strong and capable. Intelligent. Hot in all aspects, not just body. Shrewd, can lure anyone to get what she wants. Seems like a woman who befriends anyone, but harbors dark intentions, especially for those who have committed crimes against humanity.
This character is a witch who plans to punish the male lead for his crimes by transforming him into something different. Though the male may be romantically interested in her, she is not interested in him. She’s detached at times, but still has to be pleasant so as not to scare him away until he’s snared in her trap.
Male Lead – any ethnicity – 20s-30s
A well-kept, or even guy-next-door type, man who is confident in himself, but not smug or arrogant. Smart. Friendly. Good-looking. The type to have a lot of friends, people drawn to him. Thinks he has gotten away with a crime, now living free. No real guilt over what he has done. Keeps secrets.
This character is the kind of guy that everyone likes. He’s nice, kind, tolerant, woke, and easy-going. However, he has a dark secret that he doesn’t want anyone to know and has, himself, conveniently forgotten about it. He doesn’t think anyone else knows what he’s done, so he’s living life without much care of being caught. When he meets the lead female, he’s drawn to her and hopes for a romantic relationship – but takes it slow to gain her trust. It isn’t until much too late that he understands the danger he’s in.
